Kiwi is a Kangaroo who lives in Australia. Australia is a country on the other side of the world that is very large and people sometimes live far apart. Kiwi lives far away from the big cities, in the bush country. Kiwi the Kangaroo wished for a friend who lived closer to talk to and share with. At the neighborhood 'Roo School, Kiwi learned of a pen pal program that would let him make friends all around the world. As Kiwi grew up, his list of pen pals got bigger and bigger. He made friends with people who lived in many different countries. They shared the secret wish of being able to travel and see some of the exciting countries they had only read about. Kiwi had pen pals in America who he really liked. His favorite pen pals were children from Michigan. They shared stories, and sent games and treats to each other. One day, Kiwi decided he would like to meet his pen pals from Michigan. He was so excited! Kiwi knew so much about the different countries that he was not afraid to travel away from home. Finally, he would be able to visit all the places he had heard so much about! As Kiwi was preparing for his journey, he remembered all the friends that wrote to him. He got busy and wrote letters and sent e-mail to all corners of the world. He just had to share his excitement and good news! His friends were as excited as he was! They wrote with advice and good

about food? Kiwi knew this would be okay because his friends in Michigan
had told him such great things about the A neighbor, Kola, a Koala bear, gave Kiwi games to play on his trip. A friend from the Antarctica, Pickles the Penguin, sent advice on what clothes to wear. Bananas, a mischievous Monkey friend from the forests of Africa sent jokes to keep him smiling. In the wee hours of the morning, as everyone slept soundly, a huge grocery truck
pulled into As we were unloading the truck, from down between the crates, came the sound of a huge yawn and a sleepy voice. "Where am I? ... Who are you?" Imagine our surprise! A kangaroo! How did it get here? Where was it from? As we watched the kangaroo slowly wake up, we asked, "Who are you? Where did you come from?" He said with a grin, "G'day mates, Australia is where I call home and my name is Kiwi!" Please welcome Kiwi the Kangaroo by becoming a member of |
